These days, it can seem harder than ever to find the time to devote to physical fitness. That is why more and more people are asking, what is Tabata? We hope to answer this question and much more in our Tabata class.
Sure, we all WANT to be fit – we all want our ideal healthy bodies and the energy and longevity that come with regular workouts – but most of us don’t find time in our busy schedules to make it happen.
And what’s worse is that in those moments when we DO make it happen, there’s inevitably some “guru” or some trainer or some gym rat making us feel like what we’re doing in this moment could never, ever possibly be ENOUGH.
Don’t you hate that feeling?
Then there’s the other side of the coin – the people who do somehow manage to fit regular workouts into their busy lives, but despite that effort, just aren’t seeing the kind of results they want.
Putting in the time, putting in the effort, putting in the sweat, but just somehow not making it all the way there to their goals. I’ve been there, and believe me, it’s rough.
Enter our Tabata class…
So just what is Tabata?
Now, I’m not one for extreme claims, so be prepared to evaluate the workout for yourself before you decide if you agree with me.
But I have to tell you that I believe this simple, four-minute workout routine can literally change your life.
- No more stress about when or how or where to work out.
- No more guilt about not exercising regularly.
- No more gym rats or “lunks” or haughty girls giving you that “I’m obviously better than you because I have zero percent body fat” gaze.
Now YOU can be the one with little to no body fat – or any body shape you WANT for that matter! – and you can do it in just four minutes a day. This is exactly why so many are asking “what is Tabata?”
Before you start to think I’m absolutely crazy to suggest this is even possible, let me answer the question “what is Tabata?”
The Tabata workout was invented by Japanese scientist Dr. Izumi Tabata, who trained Japanese Olympic athletes.
After studying two groups of athletes – one group who engaged in more “traditional” methods of training and one group who engaged in Dr Tabata’s revolutionary method – he discovered that his scientifically designed short bursts of training were far more effective than longer spans of time spent on traditional exercise.
And that’s how Tabata was born.
The concept is simple. Every human body has an absolute top level of peak performance that is only attainable for short periods of time.
No one can run at an absolute, no holding back, full speed ahead for days on end, can they? Of course not.
We all intuitively know that our bodies can only push hard for a limited amount of time before we need to rest. We want something that fits us, fits the way we are naturally wired. That is exactly why so many are interested in our Tabata class?
Dr. Tabata came to realize that taking advantage of this fact about the human body could have a serious impact on his athletes’ results if they followed his carefully calculated methods exactly.
The workouts we cover in our Tabata class are designed to take advantage of the natural “push, then rest” rhythm that our bodies are already built for.
By pushing as hard as you can for just 20 seconds, and then resting for 10, you can train your body to reach new heights for strength, endurance, and metabolism – all while burning fat and increasing healthy circulation.
Now if you’re starting to think that pushing for 20 seconds means Tabata is easy-peasy, let me clarify: you really do have to PUSH during these short intervals to see results.
You want to go as hard and as fast as you can, and believe me when I tell you that the push is worth it when the small investment of 20 seconds starts to pay off huge! The key is in understanding that during your 20-second intervals, you are requiring more of your body than you ever usually do – and when your body sees something is required of it like that, it delivers.
The strategies we cover in our Tabata class allow you to condense what would normally be an hour – or longer – workout into just four minutes of focused, intense effort.
Not only does it free up 56 minutes of your day, it also brings more powerful results than the hour-long workout would have given you!
The intensity of those 20-second intervals is what makes Tabata perfectly designed for people of all fitness levels. Whether you’re a fitness newbie or a ripped specimen of human perfection, Tabata can help you reach your own PERSONAL next level of fitness and health.
A Tabata core workout takes advantage of the way your body works to get the most out of every nanosecond – bringing you real results with daily sessions of just four minutes a day. Short bursts of intense effort with long-term benefits are what Tabata is all about!
In a nutshell, our Tabata class or strategy is for people who want to work out SMARTER, not just HARDER.
- You can do it while your morning coffee is brewing.
- You can do it upon waking up to start your day with energy.
- You can even do it at night before bed while your spouse is in the other room brushing their teeth!
This routine is so incredibly quick, you can do it literally any time, anywhere.
Now that you have the answer to “what is Tabata, I have to warn you that Tabata isn’t for everyone. It’s not for people who believe that the amount of time they invest in something should be in direct proportion to the results they’ll get.
People who need to sweat, strive, and suffer in order to feel they’ve achieved anything worthwhile probably won’t like Tabata.
If you need to work harder and longer and make yourself miserable to be able to feel good about your results, our Tabata class just isn’t for you.
But if you believe in working SMART rather than just working HARD, Tabata could be a perfect fit for your mindset and your lifestyle. I’m not saying a Tabata workout is easy because it is not. It’s very intense… for just 4 minutes. And, yes, just like all workouts, we recommend a warm up and a cool down period for each 4 minute workout.
You already know that no workout in the entire world is effective unless you actually do it.
But the beauty of Tabata is that it only takes four minutes to get it done and you can do it anywhere and anytime!
Everyone has four minutes. I mean really, everyone has FIVE minutes pretty much any time during the day. So I guess with Tabata, you can spend the four and still have one minute left to spare!
Considering the exercise routine is only four minutes, there’s literally no reason to put it off, because it would probably take more time to justify procrastinating in your mind than it would to just do the routine anyway!
It’s that quick. You can do it anywhere, any time. And that’s why it’s life-changing.
Now that you know the answer to the question “what is Tabata?” you are probably ready to take the next step and learn more. That’s good!
